INBA Scholarship Application Open

Students who are interested in and demonstrate potential in broadcast news are encouraged to apply for up to four $1,500 scholarships offered through the Illinois News Broadcasters Association.

The scholarship or internship awards will be based upon the applications and personal interviews with students who are enrolled full-time in post-secondary programs.  Interest and demonstrated potential in broadcast news is important, as is financial need and academic performance

Student Awards Competition Seeks Entries

The SINBA Awards competition is an annual contest showcasing the best work from Illinois’ brightest and most promising journalism students.  All entries must be submitted online and must be received by 5pm on Friday, March 3, 2017.   Finalists will be announced two weeks before the 2017 INBA Spring Convention in Urbana/Champaign, and awards will be presented on the evening of Saturday, April 22.

News Veteran is New ND at WJBC

She's reported and anchored at several Central Illinois television and radio stations and now Maria Henneberry will run the newsroom at WJBC-AM in Bloomington.  Henneberry was hired to replace Terry James, and will oversee a staff that includes Eric Stock, INBA Board Member Adam Studzinski and several part-timers, including Greg Halbleib, Bryan Bloodworth and Patrick Baron.

Spring Convention Wraps Up

More than 100 people attended INBA's Spring Convention, at the Eastland Suites in Urbana.  Sessions covered Fake News, Safely Covering a Protest, and Social Media Faux Pas. Awards were presented for outstanding journalism at both the professional and student levels.
