Hear from the Iowa 7th District Chief Judge, the County Attorney for Scott County, Iowa about how the Hawkeye State allows cameras in its courtrooms, but also how it keeps it under control with rules put in place by the Iowa Supreme Court. Spring outlooks are calling for some flooding in parts of the state. Members of the U.S. Corps of Engineers will join us to discuss past floods (1993, 2008). Hear what they learned from the first 100-year old flood, how they used it to protect areas from the 2008 flood, and what when wrong.

What’s the current state of energy supplies and prices and what does the future hold? There’s been a lot of talk about Amtrak over the past year, including a high speed rail line between Chicago and St. Louis, and expansion of the rail service to the northwest part of the state (through the Quad Cities). An Amtrak spokesman and a member of the Midwest Rail Coalition will sit down with members to talk about the rail line’s future in Illinois.

Keynote: Joseph Angotti
Joe Angotti is an Emmy Award winning veteran of 22 years in network broadcast news. He is the former senior vice president of NBC News and former executive producer of NBC Nightly News. Mr. Angotti was also NBC’s Vice President and Executive Producer of Election Programs anchored by Tom Brokaw during the 1980’s. In that capacity he was in charge of all NBC programming of the primary elections, the political conventions, presidential debates, election night coverage, and the inauguration.

During his years at NBC, Mr. Angotti supervised the network’s coverage of many historical events such as the signing of the Camp David Peace Accord, the Watergate hearings, the launches of the early space shuttles, over a dozen presidential summits, and the fall of the Berlin Wall. Angotti won a national Emmy for his work on a series of stories on World Hunger broadcast on the NBC Nightly News.
Since leaving NBC, Mr. Angotti opened his own production company, and worked with budding journalists at the University of Miami and Northwestern University in Evanston. He founded Northwestern News Network, and currently is a Visiting Distinguished Professor at Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois.
