Supreme Court spokesman Tybor dies
A man who helped bridge the gap between journalists and the courts has died. Joseph Tybor was Director of Communication for the Illinois Supreme Court, but his first career was as a newspaper writer, working for the Associated Press and the Chicago Tribune. He earned a law degree, and covered legal affairs, but he also covered sports, specifically Notre Dame and University of Illinois football.
As the voice of the Supreme Court, he worked closely with the justices and served as a liason to journalists. In March of 2012, two months after the Court's decision to launch a pilot program allowing cameras and microphones, he participated in an INBA professional development session in Normal.
Tybor died October 10, at his home in Countryside, after an illness.
