INBA-IBA to Connect for Fall 2016
INBA will move forward with a slightly different format for its Fall 2016 Convention. The event will be planned to coordinate with an event put on by the Illinois Broadcasters Association, IBA-U, which is specifically for broadcast students.
During the IBA-U event Friday, November 13 in Normal, the IBA Academics Committee approved the cooperation. The plan is for the IBA-U event to have a job fair in the morning, an awards luncheon, and then panels with broadcast professionals in the afternoon. The INBA Fall Convention would then start late in the day, with a reception and a dinner featuring a speaker. On Saturday, the INBA event would continue with panels and the General Business Meeting, and would conclude by 5pm, allowing attendees to head home if they need to, or to stay and make their own fun if they like.
The locations for the events will all be around the Illinois State University campus and Uptown Normal. INBA members have indicated that they prefer a central location for conventions.
Dates are expected to be in mid-to-late October 2016.
Benefits of this arrangement are that more students and faculty may consider attending all or part of INBA; broadcasters serving as panelists for IBA may consider attending all or part of INBA, and some INBA members can be tapped as panelists for the IBA event.
