Chicago Newsman Barry Keefe Dies
He will be remembered for his booming voice, his writing and story-telling, and for being a "really nice guy". Barry Keefe has died, at age 62, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was probably best known as the newsman on Eric and Kathy's morning radio show for more than a decade, and at WTMX for 30 years overall. He retired from there in 2008, then taught sound engineering at the Illinois Institute of Art.
He was an INBA Board Member in 1988.
He is survived by his wife Kathy and sons Alex and Aidan.
A visitation will begin at 1 pm Saturday, Jan. 9 at the Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Rd. in Wheaton. There will be a short service at 3 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to support Aidan’s education at the Berklee College of Music. You can contact Taylor Schlichter at Charles Schwab & Co. Inc. at 847-441-1908, or visitingwww.ugift529.com
